On Saturday, May 31, thirty-six dedicated members of Team Expedition Technology (EXP) joined thousands of cyclists at the Capitol in Washington, DC, to participate in the 27th edition of the Armed Forces Cycling Classic (AFCC). This marked EXP’s inaugural year in the Challenge Ride segment of the event, which featured a closed 12.5-mile loop course from the Capitol, through Arlington, past the Pentagon, into Rosslyn, and back. The objective was to complete as many laps as possible within a three-hour timeframe, using pedal power only – no e-bikes allowed.
The AFCC is a fundraising event for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), an organization that provides comfort, hope, and compassionate resources to those grieving the loss of a military or veteran community member. Last year, the event successfully raised over $42,000 for TAPS. The 2025 edition of the AFCC also partnered with the Capital Pride Alliance and Team DC to introduce the first official Pride Ride category in the Corporate Challenge.
Teams were ranked based on the number of laps completed within the three-hour window. Team EXP demonstrated their determination and skill by finishing 5th out of 30 teams, completing a total of 119 laps. Notably, the top four teams were significantly larger, making this achievement even more impressive.
In addition to the team’s success, Colin Fischer, a valued team member, event coordinator, jersey designer, and cycling coach, secured 2nd place overall in the Challenge event.
Congratulations to Colin and the entire EXP Cycling Team. We look forward to riding even farther and faster next year!
