Entering Our 10th Year – We’re Not a Start-Up Anymore

When we formed Expedition Technology (EXP) on October 30, 2013, we were a start-up organization by every measure. We truly had to build our company from the ground up – one employee and one customer at a time.

Operating in start-up mode presents a host of significant challenges, but opportunities as well. To create a corporate culture that emphasizes teamwork, support, flexibility, autonomy, learning, and personal and professional growth. To pursue interesting, meaningful work. And to explore the application of leading-edge technologies that give rise to innovative solutions to the most complex practical problems.

Because of our entrepreneurial mindset, it’s easy to continue to think of the company as a new business. But as we enter our 10th year and look at our progress, it becomes clear that EXP has successfully navigated the transition from start-up to more established firm.

We’ve carved out our place supporting the defense and intelligence communities. We’ve earned the trust of our customers, who engage with us repeatedly, more strategically, and at increasing scale to help them execute their missions. We’ve evolved from a research and development (R&D) organization to one that turns R&D into products deployed in the field. We’ve accomplished all of this and more because of an outstanding group of employees who have embraced the anticipated and unexpected challenges to consistently deliver excellence.

In celebrating our 9th anniversary, we simultaneously step back to review our accomplishments and think about the year ahead to ensure we don’t lose sight of what brought us to this moment. As we continue to grow, we are committed to maintaining all the excitement and opportunity of a start-up environment, buttressed by the resources of a company no longer operating in that mode.

Over the next 12 months, EXP will indeed grow a great deal. We expect to hire as many as 30 new employees to meet the needs of our customers. To achieve that objective, we have invested in our Human Resources team, doubling its size to find top-notch individuals at all levels who will thrive in our culture, and to provide even better support to our current team members on their career journeys. To accommodate our growth, we expect to begin occupying the additional space we are constructing in our headquarters facility by the 2nd quarter of 2023.

Getting to this milestone hasn’t been easy, but it’s been thrilling and rewarding in so many ways. Our hard work, persistence, creativity, resilience, and collaborative team spirit have positioned EXP to fulfill all the dreams we had for the company and our people on Day 1. We are indebted to our past and present employees for bringing us here, and we know our best days lie ahead.
